Trey, a little too much coffee?

gggggg. Hey its afternoon so Ill be switching soon myself. :}

<WSTL doesn't do good enough R&D to justify continuation. its that simple as far as I am concerned.>

Like I said I thought that too but think you're a little early here. Lets see who else does 5ess deals first then Ill be convinced. Im assuming Coms will.

<i am also not prepared to give zionts any credit. i think he is completely in control and working under his own agenda.>

Me either, he will have to earn it & its showing to be a tough job. I don't agree that its his own agenda though. Its a secondary position to Mr. Gaynor's..

<it is becoming clear they can not make modems that anyone wants to put out on the street in volume>

Thats not Wstl's fault. They are deploying cap modems (@ a loss mind ya) but Ala isn't either. Ba is not the most aggressive as we have been led to believe & not necessarily told by Wstl all alone.

<so, what can they do?>

Thats what we need to know. Lest hope the deal is good & if not, then we have big problems.

<conf+ is a good thing, but eventually its a loser.>

Maybe not, I could see cheap access as being profitable here.

<i am quite serious about this. i see no reason to do anything other than ride out any existing contracts and start restructuring while divesting all the low margin modem business.

and canning the R&D.>

Think Ill start a little sooner, maybe after a few Ill change my mind before this evening instead of tomorrow. :}

Im not defending Wstl as things look bleak & I don't mean to rain of Awres parade but what if they are infringing on TI's patents. I don't see this as Ti is doing G-lite also & the Itu is supporting it, but do we know if the Itu has researched this? The standard is not final. Its still early & Im gonna wait a while longer b/c if memory serves me correct Amati served Awre papers in regards to such. It appears that TI isn't going to fight but does anyone know why?

Hang tough,

Dug
