Mike: Funny you should mention convertibles as an alternative to stocks. I am considering that in the upcoming meltdown, it is quite possible folks will realize the importance of a (well protected) dividend in total returns again. Enough of the preamble... I am considering 2 funds (CEFs) since I do not have the ability to pick convertibles yet. Do you have an opinion of: Gabelli Convertible Sec Fd (symbol GCVp) and Royce Value Trust (symbol RVTpA) I am considering small positions in either or both and would value your inputs on these (and any others you may recommend) thanks again
