A Thousand Shades of Darkness

A thousand shades of darkness, night flight to Miami. Ink spreads along the coast in excess. What's left by rivers of despair descending to the sea? A thousand shades of darkness.
Black blood flows through lonely veins, nevertheless I flee into dreams of how we used to be. Slate hills and charcoal clouds conspire to depress my spirits which plea to be set free from the deafening roar of blindness. And all I feel as you turn your heart from me, a thousand shades of darkness.

A thousand shades of darkness, the sun's obscured by a cloud, the depths of my demise is black and limitless. I've traded coat and tie for a flowing velvet shroud. A thousand shades of darkness.
I can't repress the demons of loss and loneliness. Regret and misery are all that I'm allowed. My world is cold and colorless all hope is disemboweled. Dark spectra haunt me, distant and pitiless. I only see, since my love is disavowed, a thousand shades of darkness.

A thousand shades of darkness, colors and displaces memories of times before life was purposeless. And now I wear, after the loss of your embraces, A thousand shades of darkness.
My tale was long and pleasure less till I found new friendly faces. And then with prayer I came to bless what I had hid as my disgraces. The spirit in the wind is effortless to clear away clouds, then a rainbow replaces, a thousand shades of darkness.
