AVEI makes great stents, better or as good as Guidant. The prices of all stents are virtually same. There has been no reduction in prices os stents since their introduction. They all know that once you reduce the price, the spiral starts and all lose out. There is no increase in usage because of price decrease. Usage is determined by medical necessity. The only negative about AVEI is that it is perceived af single product company. After aquiring Bard Cardiac catheter division, they are coming out with multiple other products. Guidant is striking deals with Hospitals, offering small discounts on all products if Hospitals use all their products. May be the best for AVEI is to be aquired by Medtronic or J & J. Medtronic badly needs good stents. All my cardilogy friends tell me that AVEI stents are as good or better than any one else. B.H. Barai MD
