you completely lost me on that one. but some answers to your musings:

1. i did work for amdahl, but was neither layed off nor fired. i quit
when i lost faith in the company and management.

2. amdahl fell from the high teens, low 20's some 5 years ago. you
may be right that the overhead cloud of losers may have
dissipated thereby clearing the way for upward movement. but
only if they truly have left the woods. none of the business
you're telling me is evidence of that. their hardware line
is selling as it was; US/postal is and was a customer. their
client/server/contract work is nebulous and "puffy" at best.
and $4B in y2k work? i'll let that one stand on its own.

3. i'm not even sure what your last post means. i'm telling you all
three companies will move forward in 97. and i'll tell you
why:

cellnet: accelerating revenue and contract base with utility deregulation.
netcom: improving finances and takeover target
amd: increasing processor sales with no INTC P7 on the horizon.

amdahl? pffft.
