When I first bought Dell in November 1995, a Merrill broker told me he didn't like Dell, he liked CPQ
Performance of Dell and CPQ was almost identical from Nov 95 through end of 96. I owned both stocks at the time and watched closely.

Also, what happened last year is not a good predictor of what will happen next year. FWIW I believe that both Dell and CPQ will beat the industry and I can't at this point predict which will do better in '99 but I give CPQ the edge in strategy, Dell the edge in execution.
