Remember a month or so ago when I said that Dell's US share was closer to 13-14 percent than the 19 percent some were claiming? but 65% growth is hard to argue with, and there's no question about the reality of the sales growth. Numbers from here on out ought to be pretty close to real customer demand.

Dell is on track to be the number 1 desktop PC vendor in the US market by mid '99 if not earlier. World-wide is a much harder fight, I need to understand the issues in Europe to understand why Dell's gains there are not better, maybe the direct model does not play as well in the still somewhat fragmented EU??
