Wow! The only Precious metal mine to fire up this year in all of B.C. and no one has any interest? I suppose speculation is more exciting than reality anyway. To get off subject a bit, I would like to share a small thought. When I started mining I was 24, I was always the youngest and most junior miner by a good stretch. Well today I am 36 , have mined pretty well steady in B.C. and the N.W.T. since I started and have found that I still am the youngest miner around (by a good stretch). What does that tell you about our mining industry in the great white north? What will happen when I (God forbid) am also on the verge of being washed up? Who will do the actual mining ? Who will train new miners? Do we just quit mining, or just import some foreigners who have younger men in the force due to more favourable investment conditions in their country. Canadiens used to be sought after in other countries to train there new mining forces, but are now mostly too old to do that anymore or have been out of work for so long they forgot how.. I guess I picked the wrong industry and should perhaps find a spot in the service or tourism industry if I plan to actually work for the next 25 years. I wonder if Blackdome will be my last blast?

Crying in my morning coffee,
L. Penner
