EXOR Announces Rapid Deployment of Oracle Enterprise Software Applications
October 26, 1998 09:15 AM

HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1998--

ERP Division of Sapient Delivers Implementations In Less Than A Year For Paymentech and SIGECO

Sapient Corporation SAPE , an innovative provider of integrated management consulting and information technology solutions, today announced that its ERP division, EXOR, has rapidly implemented Oracle's enterprise software applications in less than one year for Paymentech, Inc. PTI and SIGCORP, Inc.'s SIG flagship business, Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company (SIGECO). The completion of these projects illustrates EXOR's ability to rapidly deploy Oracle ERP systems based on their project-focused methodology.

"We know how important it is for companies to quickly see the returns they expect from the implementation of mission-critical applications," said Carolyn R. Waygood, Sapient vice president and head of the company's ERP division. "Especially now, when market forces and the Year 2000 issues are making on-time delivery even more critical, we believe we have a best-of-breed solution that will help our clients rapidly and successfully meet their ERP goals."

EXOR will share its ERP expertise and details of customer success stories at the Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG) conference Oct. 25-29 in Honolulu.

Paymentech is the third largest processor of bankcard transactions in the United States, providing credit card and other electronic payment processing solutions. Paymentech, which was founded in 1985 as the Merchant Services division of First USA Bank, established a new ERP system when it was renamed and spun off as an independent public company in 1996.

To complete this internal transition, Paymentech chose an Oracle ERP system and EXOR as its implementation partner. In less than nine months, EXOR implemented the solution and transitioned data from First USA Bank's Oracle ERP system into Paymentech's independent system. The unique combination of EXOR's expertise and commitment to a timely delivery enabled the team to rapidly complete the extensive data mapping, cleansing and conversion required for this project. The project also included the development of custom reports and forms using Oracle Developer/2000, security enhancements using Oracle's System Admin, custom menus, database sizing and tuning and installation of Oracle 10.7 application.

Paymentech is based in Dallas. More information can be found at www.paymentech.com.

SIGECO serves more than 120,000 retail electric customers and 104,000 natural gas customers in southwest Indiana. As energy markets become deregulated, it was imperative that SIGECO have a top-notch ERP system in place. SIGECO learned of EXOR's proven methodology from Siemens, a neighboring business in Evansville, Ind. Based on Siemens' and other recommendations, EXOR's knowledge of the Oracle applications and EXOR's commitment to rapid implementation, SIGECO choose EXOR over several of the Big 5 firms also competing for the business.

EXOR completed the implementation of this project in just 11 months. For SIGECO, EXOR's team-based approach to the project was the key to its success. A third of the implementation team were EXOR employees who worked side-by-side with SIGECO's functional and IS team. This process helps to ensure SIGECO's success long after the project's completion.

SIGECO is based in Evansville, Ind. More information can be found at sigeco.com.
