Reuters, Monday, October 26, 1998 at 10:13

The plan puts inflation at 2 percent a year and forecasts
Brazil's gross domestic product will end 1999 unchanged or will
shrink by 1 percent. In 2000, economic growth should be 3
percent.
The main points for reducing the budget deficit by 30
billion reais next year as reported by Veja are roughly
outlined below.
* The Health and Education Ministries will see their
budgets cut by 10 percent each, with 2 billion reais in savings
coming from the health budget and 1.1 billion reais in savings
coming from the education budget.
