Hi!

Not really responding but wanted to add my two cents worth. I think that everyone is missing the crux point here. The key competitive issue facing AVEI has more to do with bundling of product lines and per procedure charges to the hospital than with good stent or bad stent. For the most part, a stent is a stent is a stent! Some are slightly better than others (and the gfx is in that category). However, the key here is that GDT and BSX will in the long run pummel AVEI by bundling all sorts of stuff with their respective stents. What AVEI needs to do now is to find a way to add value to its product line (along with the Bard platform) with technology that it can bundle and makes its platform an essential purchase for the cath lab and hospital.

In my view, AVEI needs to acquire a radioactive therapy to prevent re-stenosis (viz Novoste) and IVUS technology (viz the ACC recommendation that IVUS be used to visualize stent placement). In my view, the latter can only be done with Endosonics.

By bundling these new technologies with their stents and by offering a full line of peripheral stents, AVEI has a bright future even against the likes of BSX and GDT. Without it, there is sure to be trouble ahead and the current shorts (massive I believe) will win the day.
