well you probably know that web, our god, hero, and all around nice guy uses market value added as a way to determine whether to pay out earnings as dividends or retain them. So, over the long haul, as you probably have noticed from your reading, the market is a "weighing" machine. Over the short term, it is a voting machine (this from B Graham). So YAHOO, for example, is still being voted on, MSFT, on the other hand, has been, and is being WEIGHED.
