Presto! Norma found herself in Rome, surrounded by nuns and priests at mid-morning mass. "And me without my beads", moaned Norma.
Back in Marin County, Mr B and Muffy were watching the fog roll into the San Francisco Bay. The fog was totally obliterating the view of Alcatraz, and the traffic on the bridge was forever snarled. Police were baffled by the sudden appearance of a 1960's semi that somehow jack-knifed on the North bound Golden Gate Bridge. No driver in sight. Frustrated commuters had broken into the back of the MacDonald's truck and were calmly munching on frozen hamburgers and french fries.
Muffy quickly got bored with trying to peer through the fog. "Can't see anything, anyway", she muttered to herself. She gazed at Mr B. "Not bad for a computer nerd. Kinda' geeky, but after all ... this IS San Francisco".
Muffy was considering suggesting a lewd activity to Mr B when all of a sudden he stood up and screamed "No! Not another Internet Explorer bug! Why do people use that darned thing, anyway?"
This outburst turned Muffy's amorous thoughts off immediately. "Oh, heck. This guy's another one of those Navigator bigots. No sense of adventure at all. Probably owns a Mac, too."
She returned to watching the boats in the harbor, while Mr B brought up his favorite text editor and tried to fix another HTML glitch. It was obvious to Muffy that she wasn't part of Mr B's game plan.
"Hmmmm ... I think I'll walk over here and take a ferry ride over to the city", she thought. "No need hanging around here with ol' nerdy."
As she walked towards the ferry on-ramp, she glanced up at the bridge. Traffic was still totally stopped. Grinning slightly, she walked on up the ramp, got on the ferry, and purchased her ticket. As she turned away from the ticket booth, somebody bumped into her and almost knocked her down. It was ... |
