Slightly OT...

I had an interesting experience over the weekend as I was paying my bills via Microsoft Money98 and Checkfree.

When I first brought up Money, I chose to update Internet information first, then started paying bills. As I started to enter payments in the check register (using the 'Epay" option), some of my online payees that have been working fine all along had a problem. As I tried to enter the transaction, The payee information screen came up. This usually only happens if it is a new payee, or the payee is missing some information. As I choose the OK button, I got an error message indication that the "bank or broker for this account does not accept electronic payments, please change the highlighted field." The highlighted field was the check number field, which currently contained 'Epay'.

After trying several silly things like restoring a backup of my Money file, with no success, I ended up calling Microsoft support (because I was in a hurry, and it was on a weekend, I had to use the $15-a-shot number). As soon as I started to explain the problem, the MS tech. knew what it was, and explained that it was a problem with CheckFree's server. A work-around was to make any small change to the address field on the payee information screen. This worked fine, and the MS Tech said that Checkfree would be sending out information on this as soon as they got it together.

Anyone know anything about this?? Anyone have a problem using Quicken with Checkfree?

Thanks,

Dave D
