Well Tom, I know of a product that is selling really well in China/HK.....a local made VCD player which have dedicated features to handle those poorly pressed pirate VCD discs. Hey, no skipping and locking up...perfect for "Titanic" costing about US$3 apiece. Beats any Sony's costing 10 times as much. Kinda sick when you think about it!

Another (True) Story: A buddy of mine recently went to ShenZhen looking for a Panasonic VCD player since the cost of living across the border is so cheap (boarder crossing trips are very common these days), he expects a good bargain.

So when he approached a shop owner and asked for the model, the shop owner replied "Sure, we have all models from all makes", and immediately he pulls a Panasonic label and slaps it on the front panel of a no-named player. Sure enough, my buddy saw in his drawer tens of labels with the names "Sony", "Toshiba"...you name it....

Budding local enterprises....I tell ya!
