Well Mr.K, the problem with elected officials is, you dont get to individually approve everything they vote on once you elect them do you? And of course, the smart ones know they cant get elected if they act like some kind of extremist during the elections, so they choose to speak out on popular issues instead. For example, the republican candidate for Superintendent of Public Schools. Funny she never seems to bring up the fact that her largest contributor is this guy Ahmasson who wants to go back to creationism in the schools and replace the constitution with the Bible. Now I ask you, if you were running for office and a noted extremist like this wanted to give you money would you take it? I wouldnt. I wouldnt take money from him, Earth First or the KKK or any extremist group. So right there Im quite worried about this republican candidate. But you see, she hides the fact that she is alligned with Ahmasson and only in debates with her opponent does it ever come up. She never mentions the fact that she is opposed to extension of school hours in order to help working women so they can pick up their kids, or that she is opposed to school vaccine programs etc. (her opposition to both of these reasonable programs are related to her allegiance to the RR imo). She is busy touting her moderate views on some key issues for schools, such as vouchers (which she is in favor of). Unless you are really paying attention, she seems like a reasonable moderate. And she has outspent the Dem candidate, largely because she gets all this money from the RR.
I feel that I dont have a choice for school superintendent because the RR has removed that choice for me by heavily funding the republican candidate. Of course if you are in favor of replacing the Consitution with the Bible, then we've got the school superintendent for you. |
