Finally got in touch with my infamous "source" today. He could not make any substantial comments regarding merger activity.
NOTE THIS: He did say that the forward looking strategy for ASND has remained unchanged from 3 months ago (when he initially made his statements to me). In addition, he has told me ASND is nearing completion of a huge new facility in Westford, MA. (about 15-20 miles from Lucent HQ). I can not verify if this is true, as you know, I live in Florida.
IMO, I believe Lucent's recent run up (over 80 from the mid 50's), has put enough value in the stock for them to make an acquisition like ASND much more realistic. The stock is holding at 45ish on decent volume, I would not be surprised if a deal is forthcoming, sooner than later.
BTW, I still believe, LU-ASND is a DONE DEAL, it is just a matter of when.
