Marc U: RE:<what might be acceptable proof of intent when selling designated shares over the net>

When I sold my 200 shares of UTEK, I did a telephone sale with my Broker, Discover. I told them to sell the shares originally purchased on 10.27 and 28, 1997. In the confirmation advice, they added a notation under UTEK's company name "VSP 10/27, 10/28/97". Imho, it seems reasonable that this will be sufficient proof of the specifically identified shares I sold. Of course, one never knows for sure until one is actually audited (hopefully never)and then you can always appeal.
