Thanks. The reason DirecTV didn't bid on the 110 slot is because, as you said, the FCC forbid any single company to control any more than one of the 3 full continental U.S. slots (101, 110, 119). Hughes would have had to divest 101. Same with Echostar, but in Charlie's case it would have been worth it because he could have had access to 28 channels at 110, whereas he only has around 20 or so at 119 (Tempo has 11 at 119 also).
