DVD player sales move higher in the US.............................

twice.com

DVD player sales were up 230.4% for the month to 113,600, up 218.2% to 279,400 for the quarter and up 161.1% to 555,600 for the first nine months. That full-period total, added to the 349,500 sold in the March-December period last year, puts historic DVD player sales to dealers at just over 905,000 and all but assures that cumulative sales will pass the 1 million milestone this month.

For DVD players there's no long-term sales data on which to develop a seasonal selling pattern. But using VCRs as a guide gives DVD a September selling rate of 889,000, which while below the third-quarter average rate of 988,000, was still better than the nine-month average rate of 799,000.
