In the e-mail, Mr. Case is addressed as "Franklin D," as in Roosevelt. "That's what he wanted to be called," Mr. Barksdale explained... The e-mail from Mr. Barksdale, dated Oct. 19, 1995, says that "if we fight them together we can win ... and what a victory it would be. The enemy of my enemy is my friend," Mr. Barksdale wrote, signing himself "your comrade Joseph Stalin."
