At today's prices 28% of the market value of SEG is accounted for by those 33 million VRTS shares

Archimedes would be proud of the way SEG has turned less than 3% of its revenues into 28% of its current market cap.

Ok, when Robert first mentioned that it got me thinking, and as usually happens when I think, I managed to confuse myself pretty thoroughly. What happened here? The price of Seagate remained pretty static, so all this jumping around on the parallel bars, moving things around on the balance sheet, leaves us exactly where we were before? Will we now see swings in SEG as they mirror swings in VRTS? We now disaggregate price into DD component at DD multiples, and holdings component marked to market? If VRTS stumbles, will SEG collapse?
