Here is some news about CBSI getting in to the SCM segment,I take this as a natural migration due to the recent Claremont Technology acquisition.Since we both own the stock and have an interest in the company and since you are in the biz could you give me your take on it please.

Oct. 26, 1998 (Computer Reseller News - CMP via COMTEX) -- Farmington Hills, Mich. -- Complete Business Solutions Inc. (CBSI) is stepping into the supply chain management arena with a new offering coupled with its growing enterprise resource planning (ERP) practice.
With the acquisition of Claremont Technology Group Inc. earlier this year, CBSI, based here, gained a small but experienced ERP software implementation practice, said Kevin McCormack, Claremont's resident supply chain management guru.
McCormack, now vice president of consulting for CBSI, launched an ongoing study with the Supply Chain Council two years ago to identify practices and principles that lead to best practices in supply chain management.
The study indicated that IT solutions contribute significantly to supply chain efficiency and that there is a significant lack of standardization in that market.
"We need a common language because everyone uses different terms and languages to differentiate themselves in supply chain management. If we're going to make this [management practice] work we need commonality, " said McCormack.
Standardization now is under way, he said. The Council has 600 members who have conformed to its Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model, which provides a standard language and framework for describing, measuring and analyzing supply chain configurations.
Offering supply chain management service is a natural progression to its ERP practice, said McCormack, who describes supply chain management and ERP as two sides of the same coin.
"You can't have one without the other and it's across all vertical and, most importantly, growing segments of the market," he said. Initially, the service will target midsize to large organizations with the necessary ERP plumbing already in place, but the service remains modular enough to be applicable to the needs of smaller businesses, McCormack said. |
