This news from Jim Jubak on Microsoft Investor -

"Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation  (VTSS)   I've followed Vitesse (VTSS) almost since its 1984 startup, and this always-promising company has finally started to surge. Vitesse makes very fast chips, in high demand in the telecommunications industry, out of gallium arsenide. Using that material makes its chips anywhere from two to eight times as fast as chips made out of silicon. It also makes them twice as expensive, but with every telecom-equipment maker trying to coax more speed out of its gear, Vitesse has finally hit the sweet spot where benefits outweigh costs. And as I said in "Chip Investors, Roll Up Your Sleeves," it's still a tiny company with plenty of potential. Sales in fiscal 1997 were just $104 million. My end of 1998 price target is $40. Full disclosure: I own shares of Vitesse."
