There has been no other news about it, and I have analyzed all I can about it. My views by this time are well known, and we just have to see how it plays out.

My view is that Fuji is pulling out of the Iomega deal, and Iomega is shopping for a substitute media maker. I submit that quality will suffer because Zip drives were apparently specifically designed with ATOMM media in mind. How they function without it is still up in the air. But I'm willing to bet that quality and reliability will erode as the read/write heads rub against a foreign material.

This scenario all depends on when the contract with Fuji runs out, and this is has not published as far as I know. But Iomega seems to be preparing for it- because Sony/Teac/Fuji's floppy compatible HiFD is on the way. Look for HiFD to be soon the first drive to replace the dedicated floppy drive in a major desktop model computer.
