Yes, I've been had. I had the very poor luck to get a four-bagger on my first stock in 1966 - the experience convinced me that I knew how to do it, and that investing was an easy and risk-free business. So I went on to lose much more than that gain, and largely from unsufficient caution in listening to self-interested promoters who sounded exactly like you and your hypester buddies do.

But that was in the bad old days of the unrecorded furtive spoken 'tip' on the phone,
before SI and its archiving and instant accurate access to records;
