Raven -

First, there is no evidence whatsoever that Iomega will "lose the Fuji ATOMM technology." There has been some speculation that they will, based upon an extremely tenuous string of dubious logic constructed by one individual, which in turn was based upon a news item which said that Mitsubishi was going to start reselling Zip disks, and that Mitsubishi wanted to develop their own media so they could make their own Zip disks.

Currently, Iomega buys the ATOMM media from Fuji, uses it to make Zip disks, and then sells the disks. It's difficult to see how Fuji would benefit buy withholding the supply of a lucrative product from a customer.

If, at some point, Mitsubishi or some other company develops media suitable for use in Zip disks, you can be sure that Iomega will very carefully qualify it. There's no reason to believe that it is impossible for anyone but Fuji to make suitable media.
