Thanks jhild and LT for the tax explanation. It will come in handy for my open trading account. Unfortunately, I invested $31,000 in MTEI from my IRA trading account and, thanks to the IRS, I get no loss write-off at all. An expensive lesson but my satisfaction will come when certain principals go to jail. By the way, in case anyone wants to jot it down for future reference, my broker gave me the Cusip for MTEI. It's 624011101.
