Buy the warrant if you want to pay a slight premium in order to assume more risk at a lesser cost. Buy the stock if you don't want to pay that slight premium for more risk at a lesser cost. The big practical difference is that the warrant will be much more volatile in % terms, because it moves pretty similarly to the stock in point terms. FYI, I own the stock, and when I want extra volatility, I buy options. If this is your IRA, warrant might be too risky (unless you're not graying yet).
