McMannis - Re: "When the 400 hits in volume and the "smart guys" on
wall street see that...so"

You are again ignoring the obvious.

The 400 MHz K6-2 will offer minimal system performance advantages over the 300 or 350 MHz K6-2 because AMD stuck with the Socket 7 too long which uses a FIXED 100 MHz L2 cache.

Remember, Jim - there is NO L2 CACHE SPEED improvement with a K6-2 400 MHz or 500 MHz 0r 999 MHz part ! The L2 cache speed for the 400 MHz K6-2 is the same as the 300 MHz K6-2 !

Intel's Slot 1 Backside bus solved this problem 18 months ago.

AMD's Sharpy is the answer to that dilemma but AMD IS LATE and that part won't have any volume until next year.

Of course, Intel's Mendocino solves this as well - and has been out in the marklet for months, taking away K6-2 sales.

Thus, expect the 400 MHz K6-2 devices to plummet in price because the entire Intel Sales force is explaining the Socket 7 limitations - and the minimal performance gains of the 400 MHz K6-2 - to ALL OF AMD's customers - and potential customers.
