Guys, is this idle speculation or is there some evidence? I am not naive enough to think there isn't some "good ole boy" stuff that goes on in the states. But corruption is rife in SE Asia on a plane that I believe far exceeds the U.S. I do not think it is just the degree of subtlety at all but is also a degree of substance and size (ubiquity in the case of Asia actually). This is admittedly based on my own personal experience and some reference reading but there have been studies by firms that suggest there is a broad variance with some of the countries in Asia. Interestingly, in a poll I link below both Hong Kong and Singapore rank above the U.S. in perceptions by those polled.
