NYSE glitch no big deal, some say

This isn't a Y2K problem, but should be like potential future ones...

One trader did find yesterday's glitch troubling, though. "It's a little
unnerving when the system goes down," said Don Mathison, head
stock trader at D.E. Shaw Securities. There was a "trading hole. You
want to buy and sell, and the New York Stock Exchange
unexpectedly closes ... I wouldn't call this nothing or not a big deal."

Although the NYSE was up and running relatively quickly, Mathison
said the outage leaves a cloud over the trading floor. "It's bad for the
market ... it undermines the confidence of investors during this time
period," he said.
