Speaking of the abyss, the current Microsoft shotgun defense reminds me of my fateful last debate with the master of cheesy high school debate tricks, about a year ago. Wonder if he got hired on as a legal advisor? He'd probably be an improvement over Bill's self representation.

"Netscape and the government's account of that meeting changes more often than Dennis Rodman's hair color," said Mark Murray, a Microsoft spokesman.

I get confused. Netscape's account has seemed pretty consistent, since the Marc Andreeson "horse head" story first floated out this spring. The Netscape story is also consistent with many other stories of "standard Microsoft business practice". What is the Microsoft account, anyway? Since Bill's "we just wanted to tell them about cool new features" line, I can't recall any Microsoft version of the story being floated at all.

Cheers, Dan.
