When is daily data not daily data?

I have a scan which looks like:

input = "rydex.lst"; // contains a bunch of rydex mut-fund tickers
output = "rydex_jnk.lst";
processMS = "c:\meta_real\rydex", MsData;

println symbol;

The preceding does indeed generate the right list, it generates "real" (as opposed to virtual) Metastock data in the right directory.

Metastock reads the files and displays them as it should.

However, when I try to run an exploration on this data, Metastock thinks it's weekly data. When I add that directory to the list of directories on which to run the exploration and check the "securities" tab, it says that all the Rydex securities are "Wkly" periodicity, and the exploration dies.

Why is this? What is it about this data that makes MS think it's weekly?
