Alcatel's submarine cable division was
created in 1994 when Alcatel acquired STC Submarine systems from
Northern Telecom and merged the operation with Alcatel Submarcom.
Major plants are located in Calais (FR), Greenwich (UK), Australia and
Portland, Oregon. Now part of cables and components group.

Re: Alstom - Prices have declined 30% since IPO so unlikely that
ALA and GEC would sell more at this time.

Re: Alcatel Espana, Will check Madrid Stock exchange shortly.
