The only conclusion possible at last month's cut-off date was that no one knew when the other shoe would drop in the BRE-X / Busang story. Well it's no longer one shoe, it's shoes. Every day something new and unexpected comes out of the woodwork. We now have a mineral title dispute generating the mystery and intrigue of a box-office-success suspense movie. It has grown into an international power struggle. What a rare opportunity to witness an report such a live event!
We're not merely talking about billions of dollars here. In fact, money is no longer the story. This is about gold! That is about more gold than has ever been found in any one spot in the world in recorded history! James Bond material, "Goldfinger," power, greed, egomania, imagination! Yes, even the alchemy of immortality! That's the frame of mind you need if you're going to speculate on or understand this play!
BRE-X is the gameboard on which the players move, the Busang Deposit is the prize. Less than a year ago Busang was struggling for credibility and recognition. Now it has grown bigger than life - maybe bigger than it actually is, maybe not! We know it contains over 50 million ounces. The market gives it a value of 100 million ounces. Speak to anyone that has walked the ground and crunched the data; they all say that the ultimate number is open-ended. Credible people have no problem looking you in the eye and saying that the known mineralized structures are large enough to host 200 + million ounces of gold. If it weren't for the James Bond factor the valuation of BRE-X stock would rival Warren Buffett's.
As a speculator, you can participate as an extra in this exciting movie and share in its risks and rewards. What scene do you want a part in ? Scene one is speculating on the short term price of BRE-X. Although the script writer has not yet figured out how this scene will end, there are some recognized price parameters that BRE-X is expected to trade within under various scenarios. Scene two is catching a ride on the next Canadian Junior / Indonesian Busang-like discovery. For me, that's the exercise and the name of the game! By observing how the players and the financial markets are reacting to the continuing BRE-X Busang saga, we can better anticipate how they are likely to react when the next Busang look-alike deposit is discovered.
