Good news: British Court Orders British Government to Pay Pinochet's Legal Fees:

Summing up Pinochet's case, Bingham said, ''A former head of state is
clearly entitled to immunity for criminal acts committed in the course of
exercising public functions.''

He ordered the British government to pay Pinochet's $560,000 in legal
costs.

British prosecutors were permitted to appeal because of the ''obvious
public importance and international interest ... as to the outcome,'' the
judge said.

In a separate development today, British Attorney General John Morris
turned down a bid by four Chilean exiles to have Pinochet stand trial in
Britain on torture charges.

''There is insufficient admissible evidence under English law of an
offense,'' the Attorney General's office said in a statement.

>>Zoltan, your left-right worldview is not only tiresome and dated, but keeps your mind closed.

No, it distresses you because you wish to close minds - like your own - to the defining issue of 20th Century. No Leftist wants a thorough examination of that history.

>>Honecker was brought to account for his injustices in German courts.

Wrong. You must be a reporter because you love to make up facts to fit your views. The courts dismissed the claims of murder in the interests of harmony - they'd have to put most of the GDR on trial - and on the claim that Honecker was ill.

Honecker's case was dismissed. In 1994 he died in exile in Chile(!).
