Yes, basically I agree with his assessment that Newbridge has its largest accounts by virtue of them being a first-mover in the ATM market 5-7 years ago, and the relationship that they have built up in that period of time. New large contracts are being swept away by Ascend. Generally Newbridge is left with the smaller contracts (i.e., Telekom SA)for smaller networks where the deficiencies of their switches are not exposed.

However, I have a better opinion of Fore's equipment. But Fore has a serious problem in their competitive position in that they do not have an installed base of frame relay switches in existing Carrier networks today that ASND and NN have today. Mr. Fong is absolutely correct that today's Frame Relay revenues for carriers are about 10X that of native ATM. As ATM continues to grow, carriers will deploy ATM switches which will work seamlessly with legacy Frame Relay, and that means Ascend or Newbridge, which most already have installed.

I am still convinced that Ascend will be picked up very soon by Lucent.
