Bucky89, I agree that Ascend is the most logical choice for Lucent. Along with the technical advantages, that you and others can more aptly describe, common geographical locations also should be an important consideration. (Of course, it is my totally biased opinion, that the Core Systems/CSCC division would be the primary reason such a choice.) The article (posted by Hisham A Mageed) may indicate what Mory expects out of such a merger. Ref Message 6141585 MM
