I have had many conversations with Don and he does have an excellent reputation.....his recommendations aren't the same as his opinions when you speak to him....He has a very good handle on the PC industry, but I don't think he is all that great at connecting what he knows and how the market will react....he was blindsided by the poor performance of CPQ over the last 9 months but if you had the chance to speak with him, he did call this fundamental slowdown, he just underestimated how the market would react to it.....As I understand it, he considers CPQ to be the company to own going forward....thats referring to a number of years, not weeks or qtrs. He holds management in such high regard, I suspect that until they have lied to him or quit, he will always support that management team.
