You are right. AOL may be expensive, but they can get a premium over other ISP/networks after acquiring their clients, mostly because people don't want to hassle with new email addresses and AOL does provide some unique features.

AMZN does not have this leverage. If they try to increase profitability be increasing prices their revenues would freefall.

Also I noted that the expenses (not counting product development) still grew faster than gross profit. Wasn't that suppose to change?

That 'we're on the road to profitability' statment looks like it is just bullsh*t. Maybe the CEO could be more specific and explain to me what the word 'profit' means again.
