LISLE, Ill., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Tellabs will supply its MartisDXX managed access and transport network solution to the Data Communications Network (DCN) of the Beijing Telecommunications Administration (BTA).
The MartisDXX system will provide BTA's internal operation and maintenance (O&M) with a managed transmission platform for carrying data traffic. The system will be initially deployed in the network of Beijing Telephone Bureau, a subsidiary of BTA, to enhance the reliability of its internal O&M data transmission.
"Tellabs is especially proud of winning this contract in one of the world's important developing markets," said Jimmy Tan, vice president and general manager of the Tellabs Asia Pacific region. "With the rapid growth of its public telecom network, BTA has determined that the MartisDXX system and its record for reliability is exactly what is needed to keep real-time centralized control as BTA builds up a dedicated data network."
The MartisDXX solution is a service-oriented platform that features digital cross-connect nodes, flexible multiplexers and other devices that are centrally controlled by advanced integrated network management software. By combining intelligent hardware with centralized management software, the system enables the rapid deployment and reconfiguration of telecommunications transport networks containing thousands of elements.
According to Tan, scalability of the MartisDXX system will prove to be cost effective to the Beijing carrier. "In the future," he said, "BTA may choose to integrate a broader range of services into the same DCN platform, including PBX interconnection, LAN-interconnect services, frame relay and ATM- based services. All of these can be easily deployed by simply adding different modules into the existing platform."
Beijing Telecommunications Administration is the administrative authority of the telecom service in Beijing and a large integrated telecom enterprise, which runs and administers the public telecom network of the capital. Beijing Telecom is the center of the telecom network and the main gateway of international telecommunications in China. |
