These guys are not competing with Open Text. They are in the business of selling network bandwith for companies to run their intranets on. America Online is promoting something similar as is AT&T. They would be providing the infrastructure for a company so that they could then run applications like Livelink. It is significant in the fact that the big players are starting to realize the value of the Internet today is in Intranets, not individuals. Open Text realized this two years ago and as a result have a huge advantage over their competition which continues to be Documentum, Lotus Notes, and Verity. Open Text had a big presence at the Internet World conference in New York recently. Documentum is so far behind in the Intranet area that they didn't even show up. This fact is going to mean a lot of wins for Open Text in the future as they compete head to head. We might even see companies replace Documentum with Livelink because Documentum's Intranet solution is so poor.
