There's an article I think you'll like in the December issue of "Wired," Chris--it's too long to read online (yes, print will survive). It's by Neal Stephenson, "The Epic Story of Wiring the Planet." Maurice will like it also (re your "wired, borderless world"). It's a huge, quite fascinating piece about FLAG, the 28,000 km Fiberoptic Link Around the Globe (an underseas cable from Europe to Japan), maybe the longest engineering project in history. Neal is a witty curmudgeon who takes no prisoners and is adept at mixing travel and history with geoeconomics and a hacker sensibility. It's really a must read. Happy New Year to you all, Diana
