You raise a good point. My thoughts are that Intel is a company of strategic importance to the industry, the U.S. (& the world, in general).

As such, its success will drive the stock price up over time - commensurate with its success.

Some people think they can get rich quick by buying into Intel. These people tend to bail at the first sign of turbulence in the technology air. This causes increased volatility in the market (both Up and down).

Myself, I'm quite content to benefit from a slow steady (although certainly non-monotonic) rise in Intel's stock valuation. A very high price of the stock (created by an inverse split) would, I believe, reduce the volatility by raising the threshold for investors to buy into this stock.

This viewpoint is obviously counter to nearly all others' opinion - but, it happens to be my opinion.
