ChrisMeister, those numbers are for the period ending Sept. 15. NASDAQ reports short positions once a month as of the 15th. You can find it directly by going to

nadsaq.com

The bulk of that activity probably relates to unwinding of arbitrage positions on the TLAB/CIEN merger. I think that when the next report becomes available you may well see another significant drop in short positions.
