Yeah, right. How long was the insolvent S&L problem known before anything was done about it? And why was it that it happened just after the '88 elections? Pure coincidence, of course. The early figures for getting the S&L fiasco under control was in the $15 billion range, but by the time Bush was safely elected, it was what, $200 billion? $300 billion? By the time it's all paid off, a cool trillion or so, with interest. All honestly tucked away off budget. But alleged perjury and all the trumped up follow on charges in fellatiogate is a big deal. The Iran/Contra coverup that never ended is entirely different. And the S&L fiasco is something else entirely, too.
