I ran the formula for ToN past a friend who is a highly qualified organic chemist, asking his professional opinion. Here it is:
the molecular formulae appear to be the result of the writer taking an overdose of cough syrup. Look at all those oxygens. The stuff is either rocket fuel or a good blasting agent.
I didn't need to contact a plant taxonomist to know that naturus gustatorium or whatever the hell it was is not a valid classification. The discover gets to name the species, I believe, but is this supposed to be a whole new genus as well?
I sincerely doubt that the Brazilian government would grant blanket permission to exploit forest products to an unknown company. Would anyone familiar with the company care to post which agency of that government issued that permission, when it was issued, and what royalties the Brazilians expect to receive? It would be most interesting to know if the Brazilian Government, or any of the many agencies working for the protection of the rainforest and its species, are aware of these claims.
I also saw from the AZNT site that the company is selling "remedies" to practically anything that has ever ailed anyone. This also raises legal questions, as one wonders if any of these remedies have been scientifically proven or approved by regulatory bodies.
So, for the sake of the arachnid, I've done a very little DD, with a pretty obvious conclusion.
A question for you: how the hell can I short this stuff? They all say you know, and if you do, please let me know. I'll do anything except move to Canada, not this time of year.
It would all be very funny, if only there were less of it...
