Dog,

I have to tell you that my experience with DEC service has not left me with a positive impression of service operations.It eventually got the job done but was terribly inefficient and wasteful of time. IBM also is difficult to do business worth. Oracle is another company that really grabs on to your pocket book and delays internal projects while you are waiting for their support people to call you back.

I see no reason why an independent service and support organization can not do a better job than the captive organizations.
