The books give the same advice Tim. The rules are first 20 minutes are desk clearing time. The next 20 minutes are critical for a stock. Then the doldrums until closing. Watch the trend in the period at the second twenty minute period for the activity for the day. This piece of advice came from the "Electronic Day Trader", which by the way is a fun and must read.
